Margaux Highlights from 2016 Bordeaux (and 2009). The Historic 3rd Growth That Is the “Wine of the Year” But Remains “Under The Radar.” Plus “A Bevy of Affordable Wines” to Collectibles That Capture the Silky Texture and Expressive Tone of Margaux! Value Begins Under $30...LARGE Formats Added.

“2016 is unequivocally a great vintage in Bordeaux...Margaux has never had back-to-back successes like 2015 and 2016 for many years...” Neal Martin, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“[Malescot-St-Exupery] A brilliantly run estate that somehow seems to remain under the radar of many serious wine consumers. The wine remains modestly priced and needs to be sought out by serious consumers. This is a great Margaux and a fabulous property.” Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

You have heard us ask this question before; what is the greatest “under the radar” value in Bordeaux? Certainly, one of them remains the grand cru classé wine from the historic Third Growth in Margaux, Château Malescot St. Exupery, in particular, the standout wines from 2016 (98-99JS/94-96WA) and 2009 (98JS/96WA). The good news is we are featuring these two modern benchmarks of the estate with a selection of additional standout wines from the Margaux appellation – from Brane-Cantenac (96-98WA) to Rauzan-Ségla (95-97WA) to the value of Siran (92-94WA). And guess what – we SUPERSIZED MARGAUX, adding some exciting new Magnums and Imperials from the wines of the region for the 2016 vintage – never presented before.

For Malescot Saint Exupery, we had the good fortune of tasting both the 2009 and 2016 during our last stop at the Château in April. Both wines, at varying stages, revealed the estate’s signature elegance and texture, screaming Margaux. Again, these are wines that are so inviting it can please enthusiasts of Super Tuscans to Napa Valley to Pomerol. With age, few wines are as crowd-pleasing, and the 2009 is one of those wines that makes you, and everyone around you, say, “damn, that is good.” So good, that we were determined to get yet another allocation of 2009, which we are presenting here today, direct from Bordeaux, at some of the best pricing in the nation, as well as adding more of the 2016 – including LARGE formats.

Cheers to Margaux and the overachieving Malescot St. Exupery for delivering top Growth quality without the price, and making great Bordeaux from the benchmark vintages more accessible! This special pricing is valid through June 30th at 11:59pm.

Cheers,
Jeff
