The Quiet & Historic Tuscan Estate in the Heart of Chianti You May Not Know Delivers a “Truly Authentic” and “Magnificent” Wine! Zachys Wine of the Day Is the 95-Point 2013 Montevertine! Plus More From the “Classic” 2013 Tuscan Vintage!
“2013 is shaping up to a magnificent, perhaps even epic vintage, at Montevertine” – Antonio Galloni
There are many outstanding estates throughout Tuscany, but today we are thrilled to bring you one of the finest that you may not know. It is the quiet and historic estate of the late Sergio Manetti’s Montevertine. As Antonio Galloni once wrote “Although there are many pedigreed wines in the world, some rise above that level and move into the stratosphere of the truly iconic.” We could not agree more with these poignant words. The late Sergio Manetti was a pioneer in Chianti. While his friends and cotemporaries produced traditional Chiantis, he was focused on mono-varietal Super Tuscans from the high hills of Radda in Chianti. His wines spoke of “tradition and innovation” and the “potential of Sangiovese and the unique attributes of Radda.” It is here, along with the Brunello of Case Basse di Soldera, Poggio di Sotto (under Piero Palmucci) and Biondi-Santi, that the finest and purest expression of sangiovese is produced. The wines capture a Burgundian sensibility with an underlying power, precision and structure that can only be achieved from high altitude Sangiovese. Sergio’s rare and elusive 1990 Le Pergole Torte Riserva remains one of only ten Italian wines to have received 100-point perfection by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (thanks to Antonio Galloni); and to this day it remains one of the most memorable wines I have ever experienced.
Today, Montevertine continues to deliver some of the best wines in all of Tuscany, if not Italy, under the guidance of Martino Manetti. Once again he has produced some of the purest expressions of sangiovese that Monica Larner of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate calls “truly authentic” and “magnificent” and it begins with the 95-point 2013 Montevertine! This is a taste of the flagship wine Le Pergole Torte which commands $100 plus at retail, but today we are pleased to offer the 2013 Montevertine at only $49.99, for half the price! With almost 30% less production in 2013 you will want to grab this stunning gem today!
This special pricing is valid until January 25th or while supplies last.
All my best,
