Debuts from “One of the Finest Estates in the Entire Beaujolais” and the Greatest Vintage Since 1947! Value Begins under $22!

Fernand and Alain Coudert’s Clos de la Roilette is the source for some of the most profound and ageworthy wines of Beaujolais (not that they neglect to be refreshing and fun to drink young).” – David Schildknecht, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Today’s 2015 Beaujolais debut comes from the best slopes of Fleurie and the historic Clos de Roilette estate of Alain Coudert. The label dates back to 1910, named after the founder’s prized race horse ‘Roilette’, but it wasn’t until 1967 that Alain Coudert’s father bought the estate. While his classic Fleurie (92VM) under $22 is exceptional for drinking now, the Cuvée Tardive (93VM) comes from a selection of the estate’s oldest vines and is meant, hence its name, for cellaring for some years before enjoying. Don’t miss the limited production, Griffe du Marquis, another cellar candidate from 80+ year-old vines, but note, we only receive a few cases.

You’ve heard us say it before, it is an exciting time for Beaujolais. First it was Neal Martin of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate declaring “there is a bevy of great Beaujolais in 2015,” then it was Josh Raynolds of Vinous Media noting “2015 is likely to be the one that delivers the greatest impact and pleasure for most wine lovers,” and then James Suckling chimed in with his outlook of 2015 Beaujolais stating that “2015 is an excellent vintage for Beaujolais...the balance of fruit, structure and acidity was irresistible.” It has been referred to as a “sunshine vintage” with historic levels of sun throughout the growing season and an Indian summer in September providing ideal harvest conditions that the region’s patriarch, Georges Duboeuf, along with others, compares to the legendary 1947 vintage.

Special pricing is valid through May 23rd.
