The Most Prestigious Estate in the Region Delivers Its Grand Cru-Like Expressions under $40! The Standout 2015 Vintage Continues to Impress with Two of the Most Exciting Bottlings We’ve Tasted Yet!
Our fascination with 2015 Beaujolais continues with what is arguably the most prestigious estate in the region, Château des Jacques, who delivers cuvées from the prized crus of Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon under the ownership of Maison Louis Jadot. The Zachys team uncorked these new releases last week and can emphatically say that the Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegrès (94JS/93WE) and Morgon Côte du Py (92JS/92WE) are two of the most exciting bottlings we’ve tasted so far from the standout 2015 vintage. For under $40, you can expect serious, age-worthy cru Beaujolais expressions that over-deliver for their price point.
You’ve heard us say it before, it is an exciting time for Beaujolais. First it was Neal Martin of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate declaring “there is a bevy of great Beaujolais in 2015,” then it was Josh Raynolds of Vinous Media noting “2015 is likely to be the one that delivers the greatest impact and pleasure for most wine lovers,” and now it is James Suckling who has chimed in with his outlook of 2015 Beaujolais stating that “2015 is an excellent vintage for Beaujolais...the balance of fruit, structure and acidity was irresistible.” It has been referred to as a “sunshine vintage” with historic levels of sun throughout the growing season and an Indian summer in September providing ideal harvest conditions that the region’s patriarch, Georges Duboeuf, along with others, compares to the legendary 1947 vintage. While production has always been limited for these crus, the wines are becoming even more allocated and difficult-to-find and 2015 is a vintage where you’ll want to go deep on some of the best expressions of the region.
Special pricing is valid through March 31st.
All my best,
